![]() Wild blackberries grow along the fences on Payne Mountain Farm. The leaves are used in herbal medicine for many purposes. We like the berries best especially in pies and jelly. |

![]() Viola (or heartsease) grows wild in the North Georgia Mountains. Viola is used for heart problems. The flowers are also used in salads and as attractive garnishes on gourmet foods. |
![]() We use native yellowroot for tea. It tastes very bitter but helps cure many conditions including digestive problems, bladder infections, colds, and flu. It is kin to goldenseal. |
![]() Several varieties of old fashioned roses grow here on the farm. The scent is heavenly and the petals and rose hips (seed pods) are good for the body, mind, and spirit. Rose essential oil is fabulous (but expensive). It can be used on all skin types. |

Mint is easy to grow in North Georgia and it comes back year after year. The scent is wonderful and it is delicious in herbal tea. Mint comes in many varieties including lemon, peppermint, spearmint, chocolate, and pineapple. |
![]() Here is a picture of young mullein before it blooms. Notice the tight little bud on top of plant. Mullein is useful for lung conditions and is a great herb for beginning herbalists. It is easy to grow! Buy dried mullein leaf. |
